A Journey from Visual to Auditory Design

2023

This thesis traces my shift from a visual-first approach to a more multisensory design practice. Influenced by service design scholar Brigit Mager and installation artist Fayen d’Evie, it reconsiders the boundaries of design—not merely as a visual endeavour, but as a means of creating social value through sound and touch.

Through two projects, the thesis explores a central question: how can design give voice to overlooked groups and issues within an overly visual environment?

Typographically, the thesis uses a high-saturation red as its dominant colour, set against black-and-white photography documenting the experimental process. The main text follows a two-column layout, with text and images arranged in alternating sections.
