The Time Capsule

2024

This is a calendar created for the future, set 100 years from now, posing a question about the relationship between humans and AI. The publication adopts a concertina book format to convey the passage of time. Dates are intentionally left blank, allowing future generations to fill in their own narratives.

Design Core
As AI becomes capable of generating images, writing, and composing music, and as creativity becomes increasingly accessible, people are less likely to ask themselves who they are, what they believe in, and what they wish to express. The cost of over-reliance on AI is not only the decline of creativity but also a gradual erosion of identity. Language, perspective, self-exploration and confidence are increasingly shaped by a more efficient external voice.

Our team structured the project around six human themes that AI cannot fully replace: biological science, survival, emotion, behaviour, culture, and economics. I was responsible for the culture section, designing an illustrated calendar of global festivals. Each page focuses on a festival, explored through religion, history and emotion, and distilled into a clear visual expression of its cultural essence.
